Jackson, MI – American 1 Credit Union is partnering with the Jackson YMCA to raise funds and awareness for the American Heart Association through a virtual 5K fundraiser June 14-30.
“We are very excited to further our partnership with the Jackson YMCA,” said Janis McCleery, Community Partnerships Specialist and 5K Event Co-Chair for American 1. “Heart Disease is far too common in our community, and I’m confident that our partnership will bring more awareness to this cause.”
According to their website, the American Heart Association, founded in 1924, hopes that scientific research could lead to better treatment, prevention, and ultimately a cure for heart disease, America’s number one killer.
“The American Heart Association is working to reach more women and minorities when it comes to heart health. With tens of thousands of diverse members, we are a natural partner for the American Heart Association on this important mission. We also hope that by inspiring physical wellness, we will inspire financial wellness,” said Michelle Pittenger, Partner Event Specialist and 5K Event Co-Chair for American 1.
To register to run, or purchase a Heart Hero Tribute, visit jacksonymca.org. Registration is $30 and includes a t-shirt and medal, and is part of the 2021 Henry Ford Allegiance Health’s 5K Run/Walk Series. To become a sponsor, email partners@a1cu.org or visit american1cu.org/5K.
